From Palestine to Lebanon, Labour for Palestine condemns Israeli terrorism
Labour for Palestine - Canada condemns the recent deadly attacks on Lebanon. We stand with the people of Lebanon at home and in the diaspora, in their grief and resistance, as Israel’s attacks continue.
Overhead airstrikes are reigning down on Southern Lebanon and the densely populated city of Beirut, and the deadly explosions carried out through pagers and walkie-talkies targeted healthcare workers and took the lives of children.
Similar to Israel’s current genocide in Gaza, these attacks in Lebanon have injured and killed civilians and destroyed civilian infrastructure. Over 100,000 people are currently displaced from Southern Lebanon. As Israel claims to target Hezbollah “with precision”, their attacks have claimed dozens of innocent lives and injured hundreds more. Israel has shown no restraint in its attacks and acts of terrorism, on Palestine and Lebanon, and continues to ignore international law and the International Court of Justice (ICJ) rulings.
As a labour organization made up of members from all over the world, including Lebanon, we call for an end to Israel’s violence. Labour for Palestine urges all members of the labour movement to stand in solidarity with the people of Lebanon and Palestine. We will continue to demand sanctions on Israel and full divestment, including a two way arms embargo until Palestinians achieve their self-determination and liberation. This is the only road to a just peace.
